About the Author
Erik has worked at Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon for over two decades, in a variety of positions involving software, design, simulation, and formal verification. Currently he works in the Design Technology and Solutions division, where he supports formal verification usage for Intel teams worldwide. In his spare time he hosts the “Math Mutation” podcast, and serves as an elected director on the Hillsboro school board.

Tom recently joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty at Portland State University and directs a graduate track in Design Verification and Validation. Previously, he was at Intel Corporation for 17 years in Hillsboro, Oregon, where he managed Intel's largest pre-silicon validation formal verification team develop and apply FPV techniques on multiple generations of microprocessor designs. Tom received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis.

Kiran has been working at intel India for past 11 years and has worked in various areas of the chip design cycle which includes RTL design, structural design, circuit design, simulation and various levels of verification including formal verification. Currently he leads the formal verification efforts for the graphics design in Visual Platform Group and supports formal verification at intel india site.

Comprehensive Formal Methodology Based on Intel's 20 Year Deployment Experience

This book is targeted at RTL designers who want to become proficient with formal verification. It presents a staged adoption methodology starting from early design bring-up, through formal bug-hunting, to formal sign-off. In addition to traditional property checking, it also covers selected formal "Apps" including standard protocol checking, unreachable coverage, connectivity checking, and CSR verification. There is a chapter on equivalence checking, including sequential equivalence, and a chapter on complexity management detail several advanced abstraction techniques. Though most of the focus is on practical applications, there is also a chapter giving a high level description of BDD and SAT algorithms.
The discussions and examples are tool and vendor independent so this is not a replacement for tool-specific training. Many techniques are illustrated with code examples and waveforms that are complex enough to illustrate the methodology but also simple enough to follow without too much effort. The discussion starts at the beginning, assuming only knowledge of RTL design and simulation, but it progresses to advanced techniques that would benefit even expert-level readers.
I have been teaching formal verification tools and techniques to industrial practitioners for many years and I believe this book is the first to focus on adoption by designers and to present such a comprehensive methodology. I will certainly be recommending it to my customers and colleagues.

A MUST HAVE BOOK!

The subtitle of this book, "Essential Toolkit for Modern VLSI Design", has definitely met its mark, and more! This is because the authors thoroughly expressed their practical knowledge of this complex, and misunderstood topic, in an easy to read presentation. I particularly appreciated many aspects of this book, including:
1. The maturity derived from extensive years of work experiences, with successes and pitfalls.
2. The organization and presentation of the subject matters, including the progression of knowledge being presented for easier absorption of the topics.
3. The practical tips derived from actual usage of formal verification and from real designs.
4. The various approaches, or angles of attack, in using formal verification when verifying different types of designs and situations.
5. The test case examples, and progression of solutions in achieving the end goals.
In summary, I strongly recommend this book to design and verification engineers who are contemplating, or are currently using formal verification; I certainly learned a lot from it!

Did Yogananda really write this?

Did Yogananda really write this? Or did someone just take some of his teachings and cobble together this little pamphlet? I have trouble believing that such a wise sage produced this. The book is a collection of VERY short essays on the following topics:

* My Divine Birthright
* The Law of Success
* The Power of Thought
* Will is the Dynamo
* You Can Control Destiny
* Fear Exhausts Life Energy
* Failures Should Arouse Determination
* The Need for Self-Analysis
* The Creative Power of Initiative
* See the Image of God in All Men
* Habits of Thought Control One's Life
* Power of Divine Will
* From the Ocean of Abundance
* The Way of Meditation
* Success is Measured by Happiness
* Put God's Power Behind Your Efforts
* Affirmation

While all these statements are true, the treatment of them is superficial, more like a reminder than anything that will help you eliminate the false subconscious beliefs that order your individual universe. I'll take any New Thought book over this simplistic rendering.

I also take issue with the following statements in this book, said statements causing the greatest harm to the spiritual seeker:

* When God is working with you, you cannot fail

God is the Infinite Intelligence that is Love and Life. For God to work "with you," God would have to be separate from you. That means God is an individual and you are an individual. Therefore, this God could not be infinite but would be limited by its individuality. God does not work WITH us, but THROUGH us. ALL of us.

* When you convince God that you want Him above all else, you will be attuned to His will

God does not need convincing of anything. This sounds like it came straight from orthodox Christianity. Believing that God is a separate intelligence that must be convinced, cajoled, worshiped, catered to, sought for permission, etc., will rob us of the divine power at our disposal. Because we'll always have the doubt, "will he?" A greater man than this taught, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." All your spiritual work should be aimed at believing this statement.

God is Spirit and knows and is all things. WE need to be convinced that we are that Infinite Intelligence operating in our individual sphere. And when we realize that everything in this world is Infinite Intelligence expressing on the material plane, we will understand and be able to practice love toward all and align ourselves with the forward movement of Spirit. This is the greatest gift.

So much better than "The Secret"

Paramahansa Yoganandaji has become my Guru!!! I read "The Secret" and thought...nah, something is missing here. Then I purchased this little, wonderful book, and discovered pretty much the same message as The Secret, with one important valuable addition: Paramahansaji advises to FIRST consult with God to see if your plans are in line with His, before going forward with your "power of positive thinking". Once you understand this difference, you are empowered to really move forward with your life. The difference in knowing that your plans please God is priceless. I am so enthused with this Guru's teachings! He has filled the 'gap' that I've had with all other religions and denominations; each left me wanting 'more' but I couldn't quite place my finger on it. When I read that direct communication IS possible with God, that was it!!! I have always wondered about those supposed "lost years" of Jesus, and Paramahansaji brings that to light in several of his books. I consider myself a devotee, and have started the lessons from Self Realization Fellowship. This is true Christianity in my humble opinion.

Health, Life and Business Success Can Be Achieved Following Yogananda's Precepts.

Having read many of Paramahansa Yogananda's books, much of what is found in 'The Law of Success' is redundant. However, his wonderful way of restating essential concepts and ideas hammers the points home to where they reside within the mind as tools. I would give this book a 5 star rating, but for a novice reader, looking for a means to improve their opportunities to achieve success, not knowing many of the 'Master's' precepts leaves this book somewhat austere in terms of specific recommendations. Knowing his teachings, at least in part, they struck home well and having tried many of his recommendations, it is following Yogananda's advice and scriptural interpretations that has begun to transform my life in many fundamental and positive ways. He was a blessing to all Mankind and should be taught in all public and private schools. My dream and goal is to grow our new business to reflect the moral precepts and embrace the love and respect all people need and deserve as a matter of our daily operations in all ways. To those who are SRF members or followers of Yogananda's ideals, this is a worthy instrument to add to ones skill set.

Make the Time . . . .

There are so many Santa Claus storybooks available that it is hard to make the right choice when purchasing one for a beloved grandchild. I wanted a book that was traditional, upbeat, NEW and interesting. Boy did I find one! After a long day of visiting relatives we decided to cuddle up with some hot chocolate and read their new book. The children, ages 3 and 5, loved the story and were able to identify with some of the activities depicted in the beautiful illustrations. The kids liked the fact that the story was written using 'words' that they use with their friends. I liked the fact that good values and manners were being taught in such a fun and interesting way. The story definitely held the kids attention and it gave me an opportunity to share a special gift with my grandchildren - uninterrupted time filled with love and closeness.
You will thank yourself for making the time to read this 'awesome' little book to someone you love.

Hot Chocolate for Santa Claus

This is a wonderful book that celebrates the happy traditions of Christmas and introduces an new idea that Mrs. Claus has a party for all the elves when they return with Santa after delivering all the presents. This story will make children feel excited to put out a special treat for Santa on Christmas Eve. The illustrations are excellent. Moms and dads, grandmothers and grandfathers will have fun reading this book and enjoying the illustrations with their children and grandchildren. There is a extra bonus. It is certainly not horrible, but it is rather abrubt

This book is charming. I read it to my fourth graders this year, and even those students who considered themselves "too old" for this sort of book were completely enchanted. The artwork is absolutely stunning, and the idea of Santa Claus getting a thank you note inspired our class to write thank you notes of our own. The only reason that I am giving it four stars instead of five stars is for the ending. It is certainly not horrible, but it is rather abrubt. It almost seemed as though the author wasn't quite certain how to end the story, and simply ended with "Christmas is awesome!" While it went unnoticed by my students, I felt that it was a bit awkward. All in all, this is a lovely book to add to your holiday library.

A good introduction to fantasy roleplay.

Years ago Penguin published a version of the FF system. Unfortunately I lent my copy to friends who then promptly moved to Europe without returning it. This new version is certainly well written and organized, and much superior to D&D when it comes to introducing new players - especially young ones - to fantasy roleplay. It even fixes several minor problems with the old system, making it in some ways better than the original. I'll always miss the penguin version, but that nostalgic bias aside this a fantastic little RPG.

LOVE THIS SYSTEM

Fast , Fun, and simple. With just the amount of rules to make each character different. But the rules do not inter fear with telling the greater story like all good RPGs of old are designed. this is definitely a keeper. if i had to choose a negative it would be the fact that there is NO pdf available to cut and paste resources and Spell Info from. tho they promise to post such resources on the website they are way behind in doing so.
