I've read through other information on carb cycling, but the information in this book was laid out perfectly. It was simple, easy to read andfull of information. Even with all the information it was never overcomplicated. It includes recipes, shopping lists, meal plans and even ajournal. It makes making the switch to this lifestyle easy and provideslifestyle tips as well! This book is a steal! If you're looking to trycarb cycling, look no further than this book right here!

Carb cycling simplified

Very well written, easy to understand and packed with information. I had already started my diet change after reading books by Chris Powell, and this book is an excellent supplement which breaks down the concepts and explains it very well. I love the recipe section, since I am always looking for a new taste to add to my diet. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to try carb cycling. I can tell you that the concept works! I've been on many 'fad' diets over the years and have yo-yo dieted quite a bit. This is not a fad or intense diet that will leave you starving. I am always full, the eating lifestyle is easy to understand and follow. My first two weeks cycling, I lost 16 lbs. Everyone won't have the same results, but others in an online group I'm in are reporting similar results. Happy reading and best of luck on your weightloss journey and lifestyle change!

Great ideas to make fitness easy rather than being a chore

Before reading this book, my wife and I did all the wrong things. Here is an example that will make you laugh, and at the same time, I’m sharing our progress on the road of carb cycling.
We would buy bags of frozen pasta skillet entrees, bad enough to spend the money on a meal said to be four servings but not enough for two, and we would then add pasta to the pasta. I kid you not. I’d make half a box of rigatoni, and once cooked, I’d add that to the skillet pasta meal as it cooked.
Then we started using the smartphone app that Jesse recommends in this book, and wow - that was a wake-up call.
So then we added vegetables to the pasta meal, instead of adding more pasta, and it was great. Finally we asked, why are we doing this? So now we just sautee our own fresh vegetables that are listed in the book, add white wine, lemon, and seasonings, and leave out the pasta altogether. If we must have carbs, we can make a SIDE of bowtie pasta with some sun dried tomatoes, and olive oil and pesto.
Regarding exercise, we did none before reading this book, and with the nice weather (finally) we do the suggested loop walk recommended in the book, almost every night. We both started losing weight to the point where we said yes, we can actually set for ourselves weight loss goals. That was something we never did before.
Jesse’s recommendations are good, and the food lists are helpful. We’re beginners, so I would recommend this book to anyone wanting some motivation and a multi-pronged approach that is not intimidating on any one level. Carb Cycling is a book that has enough flexibility to allow you to be gentle with yourself and go at your own pace, using the ideas and lists as you feel comfortable.
We enjoyed the recipe sections, and our favorites are the salads and snacks recommendations, which we do use regularly.
Of course, this book is educational too, but not in a boring way, but rather keeping it simple and summarizing what you might otherwise have to scour from a dozen sources. Jesse covers the basics of sugar, protein, and fat by using several different contexts and so helping the lessons stick, while you shed a few pounds and feel way more fit.

Finally losing some weight!

Well, I am 64 years old and have been trying for the past 4 years to lose ANY weight. But was just always frustrated since the scale numbers stayed static. But with the easy to understand nutritional awareness gained from this book, a quick read, the pounds are finally coming off. The recipe section is not extensive, but provides a sound starting point. Thought that pasta and breads had to be part of every meal...but now know better. It feels great to be making better food choices. Thanks.
